I’ve been spending a lot of time this month trying to decide which paintings I will be showing at the Norwich 20 Exhibition in the Undercroft Gallery and for Norwich Open Studios. It is rather like choosing your favourite child which, as we all know, is impossible!
It is not just about an artist’s personal preferences. We also have to consider any criteria the exhibition organisers might have, such as size of images, underlying themes, how it might reproduce in the exhibition catalogue, or balance of works with other exhibitors. Of course, we always have in the back of our mind what the public might like to see (and buy!). Altogether, it is a balancing act, but as you can see from my cellar and studio, I have plenty to choose from!
