I can normally remember every single piece of work I have created (admittedly with the help of my numerous sketchbooks!), but today I chanced upon something that I had completely forgotten.
On the backs of three paintings I have selected for this year’s Open Studios, were some jottings; my thoughts on what was happening at the time. They were all painted during Covid so I must have been in a particularly thoughtful and reflective mood, as this is not something I tend to do.
My random thoughts on a former ‘lunatic asylum’ in Dolphin Grove where unmarried mothers were sent; a friend and well-known Norwich character who used to steal eggs in his youth; my weather predictions and the fact that Russia was celebrating VE Day are certainly an eclectic melange!
You can see these paintings and read my random scribblings during Open Studios at the end of September/October.
