I’ve been in a reflective mood this week remembering, with fondness and admittedly an element of sadness, my time as a teacher. Conversations with old friends and acquaintances have no doubt triggered these thoughts, igniting memories of my 30 years in the classroom, teaching young and old in group classes and private sessions.
There is undoubtedly a joy in sharing one’s knowledge and experience and the way that students, particularly young people, absorb information like blotting paper.
This blog’s featured image, Missing Work, is a reflection of how I have been feeling and ( in case you were wondering!) features horse-head cardboard masks that I created for children to decorate at workshops I ran across Norfolk a few summers ago.
Teaching was good for me as a practicing artist too, as I needed to be versatile in the media and materials with which I taught.
