Tulips

I was told my my art teacher (many years ago now!) that one should paint or draw every day, to practice one’s craft and to develop the discipline of seeing the world around us. I have maintained this throughout my 60 years of professional painting, evidenced by the the perilous mountains of sketchbooks that share my home.

My subject matter this week is this vibrant vase of tulips which I am painting daily, capturing their beauty at every stage, from tightly furled buds through their, oh too short period of blowsy glory, then on to inevitable decay.
